The golden gate of Burgundy

Wineyard of Chablis

The splendid wine-producers pathways among the valleys of Chablis offer a sense of vastness, rarely seen in the Bourgogne. At the turn of the century this area was the most productive wine region with 40 000 hectares, the vineyards of Yonne actually amounting to 4000 hectares approximately, made up of seven large vineyards called the seven wisemen ("les sept sages"). Between the slopes of the gentle valley flows the small river "le Serein", spreading itself among the vineyards of the north of Burgundy. Renowned throughout the entire world, the Chablis wines are a delicious treat, fresh, smooth and lively.

The big naming of this region concerns only white wines. Halfway among Auxerre and Thunder, the city of Chablis covers its seven big vineyards, which of the green in the golden reflections of vineyards, expresses itself above all by the set of colours. These wines arise from kimmeridgiennes marls of the Jurassic which appear in side of hillsides along the valley of the Serein.
